Sunrise, day 2
We hiked several miles through forests and rocky areas. This was the least interesting part of the entire hike, but still nice and full of flowers.
The climb up to Buckskin pass was pretty brutal. We attempted this once back in 2017, but turned back because of the weather.
One problem I always have while backpacking is trying to limit the amount of pictures I take. Every flower I photograph is like doing a set of squats with 40 pounds on my back, all while trying to climb a mountain. Not a good combination, but the pictures are always worth the exhaustion.
Looking east from Buckskin Pass. Storm clouds were brewing so we had to rush the climb. Luckily when we reached the pass, everyone had left, and we were alone. The skies cleared up and we were looking at this incredible view with no one around. Buckskin Pass was definitely the hardest climb of the entire trip.
Not many places can compare to this view!
The descent began with a nice, easy grade, but became a lot steeper and more slippery as we reached the tree line.
The rain was getting closer as we neared our next campsite.
Luckily we had our tarp. It rained most of the night, but the tarp kept our tent nice and dry.
