West Cornwall Covered Bridge
We planned on spending two nights in Connecticut, and found the perfect place to enjoy our short stay. This quaint little Air B&B in Litchfield was a former mill and sat directly on a small creek, surrounded by the vibrantly fall colored leaves. The interior was stright out of the 1800’s, and with it’s low ceilings, period furniture, and creaky floorboards, could easily have been haunted.
Bear Mountain
Not a bad view for only 2,300 feet! The colors from on top of Bear Mountain stretched as far as the eye could see. The rocky summit was perfect, as there were no trees to obstruct the view. It was a bit crowded, but there was enough room to spread out and get away from the other hikers. As the clouds rolled in and the wind picked up, the temperature started to drop so we quickly made our way back down to the trailhead.
Mudge Pond
This back-country road somewhere in the middle of nowhere Connecticut summed up our East Coast experience perfectly. Along with our planned itinerary, this trip was full of spontaneous moments where we would just pull off the road and see something incredible...usually involving falling leaves. I can’t count the number of times we were throwing leaves in the air trying to capture the perfect falling leaf action shot!
Kent Falls State Park
Kent Falls State Park was our final stop in Connecticut. Nestled in the colorful hills, this picturesque park had everything we wanted to see all in one place. Gorgeous fall foliage, covered bridges, rivers, and even a multi-level waterfall littered with yellow and orange leaves from the nearby trees.
